Description:  a medium-size tree, often with crooked trunk and irregular crown composed of stiff, spiny, interlacing branches.  It will reach a height of 50 feet with a diameter of 2 feet.

Description:
a medium-size tree, often with crooked trunk and irregular crown composed of stiff, spiny, interlacing branches.  It will reach a height of 50 feet with a diameter of 2 feet.

Habitat:
river valleys with moist soils, originally the rich bottomlands along the Arkansas and Red Rivers, in eastern Texas and the southern parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma.
     Range:  Native range uncertain;  widely planted throughout much of the East.
