Tree located at Hawthorne Elementary School 2405 Champaign Avenue Mattoon, Illinois

Description:

grows to heights of 15 to 40 feet with a rounded bushy crown.

Habitat:

prefers rich, moist, well-drained soils, but does well even in dry ones.      Range:  over most of the eastern U.S. above southern Florida, up to Vermont and Michigan, down to Texas, and in northern Mexico.
