Description:

is a small to medium-size tree with a rounded, broad crown and short trunk.  It grows to heights of 3 to 60 feet with a diameter of 2.5 feet.

Habitat:

Stream banks and valleys with wet or moist soils.      Range:  S. Alberta through Ontario and New York, south to S. Texas and central Florida.
