Description:
(also called Linden Tree) a compact, large tree with small, sometimes drooping branches forming a dense, narrow crown;  often with 2 or more trunks;  often reaches a height of 60 feet with a diameter of 2 to 3 feet.

Habitat:
Uplands and valleys with moist soils;  also in hardwood forests.
     Range:  New Brunswick south to Georgia, west to Nebraska and Texas; native to eastern U.S.
